Economic Development

  • More Jobs:  Bringing healthy jobs and sustainable economic development to the city of Rancho Cordova. Ensuring access to high quality jobs is a critical responsibility of the City and all elected officials. The Council can do a great deal to promote good jobs through their own procurement and contracting policies, but could also create incentives and programs to help employers who have commitments to provide good jobs with benefits as well as promotion and training opportunities.
  • More Housing: we are a growing community and need more options-work here, stay here.  I will work to increase our affordable housing by working out new ideas with our city design guidelines and making appropriate publicly held vacant land available to nonprofit affordable housing developers
  • More Recreation: shopping and dining options. I will work with those businesses to tear down barriers so they can succeed.

Homeless

As your councilwoman, I would make sure that the City applies the best long term solutions,

Having volunteered in the Homeless outreach programs I have personally seen the struggles homeless people go through. These folks have fallen on hard times and need our support to get back on their feet, but one solution does not fit all.

While housing options are needed, there are a significant number of homeless individuals that have serious mental illness and/or a substance use disorder.   I will work to provide safe camping sites staffed by professionals trained in mental health and substance abuse treatment. We need to explore options to compel treatment, and work with the county to leverage state funding to address this component of homelessness by providing outreach and services.

Quality Education

I believe education opens doors. Our children are our future and we need to invest in quality education to prepare our children for success.  In the blink of an eye, our lives have changed dramatically. Educators are working overtime to adapt to remote learning solutions, As your elected representative  I will work with Tech companies to bring organized plans for remote learning, offer guidance for adapting lesson plans to remote learning that is designed to balance on- and off-screen activities. I will work in partnership with School board

  • To promote programs that show a path for future jobs and pathway for internships with leading industries.
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)  subjects represent some of the fastest-growing and most in-demand fields in the United States. I will ensure that all Rancho Cordova schools have STEM activities to engage the young  minds and as a women in the tech industry I am personally passionate about empowering women & girls to pursue STEM career .

Public Safety

We need to invest more in public safety to reduce response times and increase neighborhood patrols

  1. Get more Neighbors involved in Neighborhood Watch, I will ensure that there are leads in each Community and make sure their voices are heard, Invest in our neighborhoods by ensuring that every community has robust programming and resources for youth and adults. Communities need public spaces to gather together and thrive.
  2. Invest in technology:  While governments often try and make do with existing systems, often delaying investments in technology infrastructure because of the expense, they might want to reconsider this approach.  Given the price of crime to our economy public safety management technology is one investment that can save a government money.
  3. The pandemic came on so quickly that school districts and families have been forced to make rapid changes, not only to our everyday lives, but also to the way our children learn. Many districts are transitioning to remote learning as an alternative approach to closing schools completely. With more devices entering your home, I will ensure that schools make sure that cybersecurity efforts are strong, that all kids know how to stay safe online.
  4. City Council needs to work very closely with CRPD to make sure that Parks are safe.

Equality

We need to follow the Golden rule "one should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself"

We can start by living more deeply into our values.

Rancho Cordova is a diverse city and needs more diversity at all levels of Govt. As you elected City councilwomen I will work towards building a culture of belonging. We achieve this as a community by electing city officials who care about people's needs and work towards them.

Diversity in City Council is not optional, because it’s important for every citizen to be represented in the government. That way, decisions that are made can benefit a larger group of people. Plus, when " kids see someone like themselves in positions of power, they are able to recognize their own power"

As your elected official I will adopt engagement strategies that are inclusive of communities that have historically been left out of government decision-making processes
